My Shop

Currently, my workshop is located against one wall of my two car garage. When I want to use my table saw I pull the cars out of the garage, wheel the saw into the middle of the room and begin my work.  This is not the best arrangement, but it beats when I had all my tools on our back porch and visitors would sit in our family room and comment "What a nice view of the Catalinas you have, and that's a lovely drill press." My wife suggested that I close in our carport and make my workshop there, so that's what I did.  Enclosing the carport won't be covered on this page. Look for a future page entitled "Projects I wish I had never started, but by then it was too late." Along with the usual hand tools, the power tools I have in my shop are:
  • 10" Table Saw
  • Drill Press
  • Router
  • Scroll Saw
  • Sanders, both belt and vibrating
  • Jig Saw
  • Circular Saw
  • Band Saw
Noticeably absent from this list are some important tools like a planer,  jointer, Radial Arm saw, and Compound Miter saw. I don't have these tools for three reasons: I don't have any room for them, they're expensive, and it allows me to keep saying "If I had all the tools Norm Abram does I could build stuff that's just as nice."
