GEDCOM Information

What is GEDCOM?

GEDCOM is an acronym for Genealogical Data Communication, a standard of formatting family data so that different software programs and operating systems can read and understand it.
To view this file, you must have a genealogical software package which is GEDCOM compatible. Since GEDCOM is pretty much standard in the industry, if you find a package, it should be GEDCOM compatible.
There are many genealogical software packages on the market, including shareware available on the web. You'll have to figure out where and how to get a program, but once you get one, you can import this file into it and have the complete database at your disposal.
