Balassone HistoryFull Database
This link provides a comprehensive look at the Balassone family from Bonifacio Balassone (b. ~1650) to the present. It was generated automatically from my database using Personal Ancestral File, the genealogical database program I use. There are 12 generations of Balassones from Bonifacio to my own children. Last updated on 27 July 2008
The following database contains a list of ALL the Balassones and their descendents that I have compiled throughout my research that I CANNOT link to my own Balassone line. Some were gathered by looking through the Sulmona records on Microfiche provided by the LDS church. Many people have also emailed me and given me information about their Balassone line, hoping to somehow link us all together. Please contact me with any new information, corrections etc.
Because of the enormous amount of information I have recently gathered on the Balassone family, it has become unwieldly to continue updating the Balassone web page in its present format. I have been devoting my time to actual research and to the creation and maintenance of a database containing all the information I have gathered thus far. It has always been an interesting story (to me at least) that Luigi Balassone (the first Balassone to come to America) fell in love with Emma Leo and then wrote his brother Vincenzo that Emma had a beautiful sister Antoinette and that he should come to America to meet her. Meet they did, and of course the two Balassone brothers ended up marrying the two Leo sisters. From these two couples we are all descended. But go just a generation past that and listen to this story. The father of Luigi and Vincenzo was Antonio. First of all, Antonio married Maria Balassone, his own cousin, though that is another story, and how closely they were related still is under investigation. Antonio's father was Pasquale Balassone and his mother was Maria Giuseppa Scudieri. Antonio was the youngest of three children of Pasquale and Maria Giuseppa and was born in Oct 1851. Although I haven't found a death record for Maria Giuseppa yet, she must have died shortly after giving birth to Antonio because less than 2 years later, Pasquale remarried. To Maria Giuseppa's sister, Maria Potenza Scudieri!! With Maria Potenza he had six more children. So Antonio was raised by his stepmom/aunt! The image map below is still entirely operational. However, it does not list the five generations before Pasquales birth in 1819 to Bonifacio's birth in the 1600's. For that, use the link at the top of the page Use the image map below to navigate through a less inclusive version of the family tree. As mentioned above, this version does not go past Pasquale Balassone, born in 1819. Point and click on the person you want information on. Although only one descendant of each couple is listed on the map, information on the entire family can be found on the parent's page. For instance, if you click on Pasquale Balassone and Maria Scudieri you will get information not only on Antonio, but on all his siblings and their descendants. These links are no longer maintained!
